- Change the locks as soon as possible. You have no idea how many copies of the keys are floating around out there. Keep your new home as secure as possible.
- If you are wanting to paint your new home, try to arrange that prior to moving in. An empty house will make it much easier.
- Start an emergency fund for repairs and maintenance.
- Plant trees, shrubs, and hedges as soon as possible, since they take years to grow. You will thank yourself later.
- Be slow to take on major renovations. If you do renovate, make improvements that add value (consult with your realtor).
