- Don’t make it a surprise: Be as transparent as possible with your kids. Answer all questions openly & honestly.
- Do let your kids see their new home: If possible, arrange a kid-friendly tour of your new home prior to moving day. Let them explore & be excited.
- Don’t expect “good little helpers” on moving day: The truth is, having them around may add to your STRESS. Try to arrange for childcare if possible.
- Do set aside their favourite things: Welcome your kids to their new home with all their favourites. Unpack their room(s) first so they have a play area while you unpack the rest of the home.
- Do plan for meals on moving day: Moving is hard. Don’t make it worse by forgetting meals. Hangry is a real thing = hungry + angry.
